Job Description:
Specialist Psychiatrist will provide high quality patients care in the assigned sub-specialty of the Department of Medicine.
Organization Relationships :
Responsible to: SECTION HEAD, and through him, to the CHAIR OF MEDICINE
Duties and responsibilities
- Provides patient care that meets or exceeds the standards set by the JCIA.
- Provides inpatient care under the name, supervision and responsibility of the Consultant and runs outpatient clinics in his/her name and responsibility. These services are in the field of Psychiatry.
- Performs diagnostic or therapeutic interventions for which he/she has been granted specific privileges based on his/her training, experience and skills, under supervision of Consultant or Section Head.
- Provides consultations to physicians in other specialties or sub-specialties.
- Participates in Psychiatry on-call rotations, in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Section and the Department of Medicine.
- Actively participates in the educational programs of the hospital, particularly the Residency and Fellowship training program.
- Participates in approved clinical research activities.
- Actively participates in Quality Improvement activities.
- Provides close supervision of the clinical performance and activity of subordinates, especially those in training.
- Fulfills his/her obligations related to Patient Records.
- Performs other duties as directed by the Section Head, the Chairman of Medicine or the
Education and Qualifications:
- Graduate of Medical School, recognized by the Medical Council of the country of origin.
- Completion of appropriate internship and residency programs. Post-graduation qualifications in the specialty.
- Membership, Fellowship and/or Board Certification in the respective specialty.
- Relevant licence from the country of origin, acceptable to Saudi Commission for Health Specialty and Ministry of Health.
Professional Experience and Special Skills:
- At least three (3) years of practice in his / her specialty after obtaining the higher degree In a Tertiary Care Hospital.
- Sub-specialty degree or structured sub-specialty training preferred.
- Clinical/ technical skills in his/ her specialty.
- Knowledge of International / National Healthcare Standards.
- Computer Literate/ Better knowledge of MS Microsoft Word.
- Excellent written and spoken Arabic and English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with all staff, patients and families.
- Awareness of and sensitivity to cultural differences
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to work effectively within a service and organisation committed to achieving accreditation.
