Job Description:
Working as a resident under the supervision of the Pediatric Surgery Consultant. Follow up all hospital administrative and medical policies and procedures. Any other assignment given by the Supervisor or the Management. The Specialist Pediatric Surgery is required to be involved in the continuous quality improvement activities of the department as well as in hospital to achieve the goals of the hospital.
Duties and responsibilities
- The resident clerks all cases admitted from the pediatric surgery department. He follows all tests results and inform the Consultant concerned about any abnormal result.
- He joins the consultant in the ward rounds as per schedule. Includes pre-operative care of the pediatric surgery patients.
- He responds to all calls by Nursing staff to see any patient under any one of the above mentioned sub-specialties; he deals with the problems or call the consultant on-call.
- He performs two ward rounds a day, one in the morning with the Consultant and one in the afternoon with the Consultant or on his own if the consultant is busy in his clinic.
- He does dressing to all patients according to the schedule.
- The Surgical Resident is on-call for patients who attend the pediatric surgery. When they have a surgical problem or a post operative follow-up.
- Pediatric Surgery patients are seen by the Pediatric Surgical Resident regarding their surgical problems to provide both Outpatient or Inpatient management under the supervision and guidance of the Consultant Surgeon on-call.
Job Requirements:
- Graduate of Medical School, recognized by the Medical Council of the country of origin.
- Completion of appropriate internship and residency programs.
- Post-graduation qualifications in the specialty.
- Membership, Fellowship and/or Board Certification in the respective specialty.
- Relevant licence from the country of origin, acceptable to Saudi Commission for Health Specialty and Ministry of Health.
- At least three (3) years of practice in his / her specialty after obtaining the higher degree In a Tertiary Care Hospital
- Sub-specialty degree or structured sub-specialty training preferred.
- Clinical/ technical skills in his/ her specialty.
