Job Description: 

Within the mission, vision and values of the hospital, the Physiotherapist I Basic Function provides physiotherapy intervention at a specialized level, which meets the physiotherapy standards of practice and is in accordance with ICLA standards and both  policies and procedures of the hospital. The Physical Therapists work in a specific clinical area with the intention of specializing in the area.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Undertake and conduct comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients using rehabilitation models to gain maximum potential for the progress of patients’ condition.
  • Provide physiotherapy intervention services to patients, assisting with maintaining and/or improving quality of life through remedial actions and activities.
  • Consult appropriately with Clinical Specialist resources to ensure treatment programs and services are in line with clinical standards of practice.
  • Assist support staff, providing physiotherapy knowledge and skills that meet the physical and emotional needs of patients.
  • Support senior staff in overseeing daily work and training of physiotherapy interns, ensuring staff follow adherence to standards and practices to maximize safety and operational effectiveness. Review and audit intern documentation, providing written review and evaluation.
  • Reassign patients to Physiotherapy Assistants for continued remedial assistance and provide ongoing overview of treatment as required.
  • Provide treatment for VIP’s and patients referred from the Business Centre.
  • Respond to calls from reception desk for assistance with clinical decisions providing advice and support as necessary.
  • Participate in and contribute to staff development, educational programmes (including physiotherapy training programmes) and
  • team meetings, providing presentations and contributing input and feedback to support departmental activity.
  • Coordinate with other sections of the department to ensure workflow efficiencies are maintained effectively within the department.
  • Comply with the Health Informatics System procedure utilizing appropriate methods of operation and technical requirements.
  • Prepare and submit statistical reports detailing analyzed data for review and feedback.
  • Ensure safe and efficient working equipment, reporting faults and problems through the appropriate channels.
  • Perform other job related duties as required.
Job Requirements: 
  • Graduation from Bachelor Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy program and hold authorized practice license.
  • Minimum of four (3) years post graduate experience in a comparable health care facility/organization.
