Job Description:
Undergoing Rheumatology and Rehabilitation clinic. Cooperation with the management for the development of the unit. Any other assignment given by the Chief Medical Officer or the Management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assigning patients to therapists. Arranging for daily and monthly censuses.
- Rheumatology and Rehabilitation Out-patient clinic. Doing Rheumatology and Rehabilitation consultations for the in-patients.
- Prescribing the physical therapy procedures for the referred cases from other clinics. Doing Electrodiagnosis and nerve conduction velocity studies and strength duration curve for nerves and muscles.
- Cooperation with other units in some special sophisticated rehabilitation programs. Supervising weight control section and other activities.
- Designing and constructing simple orthetic devices and splints for handicapped and chronic deformating problems in Rh, Neurological, and Orthopedic cases according to the facilities available.
- Admitting patient under his supervision. Participate in hospital Continuous Education, Safety, Infection Control, and Performance Improvement programs to keep updated with the current practices
- Provides full explanation regarding the plan of care and the available treatment options to the patient and care giver in a simple language.
- Encourages the patient and care giver to participate in taking decisions affecting the course of treatment.
- Provides educational materials related to the case for the patient and care giver.
- Plans the educational session with the patient and family after checking their willingness to learn and their learning preferences.
Education and Qualifications:
- Must have MD or equivalent qualification from a recognized university.
- Current medical license from country of origin to practice medicine.
- Valid SCFHS license and BCLS certification.
Experience and Skills
- Five (5) years experience as a Consultant Rheumatologist in a reputed hospital.
- Customer service focused
- Capable to work and produce under pressure
- Intermediate computer skills (Windows & Microsoft)
- Excellent interpersonal communication
- English language

- Demonstrated teaching skills in respect of junior medical staff, other staff, patients and their families.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with all staff, patients and families.
- Awareness of and sensitivity to cultural differences.
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to work effectively within a service and organisation committed to achieving accreditation.
