Job Description

Job Description: 
  • To exercise the highest possible standard of patient care in the field of pediatric urology according to his Clinical Privileges and available resources.
  • To participate in the training and teaching program of the hospital.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff and those specific to the department / division.
  • Provides the highest attainable standard of medical care for the patients for whom she/he is responsible.
  • Carries out full range of inpatient and outpatient clinical duties as assigned by the Director of the Department / Head of Division in accordance with individually approved clinical privileges.
  • Participates in the on-call duties as required by the department / division.
  • Teaches staff assigned for training purposes and participates with the Director of Department / Head of Division and Director of Postgraduate and Academic Affairs
  • in planning a program of career development for trainees.
  • Participates and contributes to QI & PS, Systems Control, Staff Development and Fire and Safety Practices.
  • Fulfills the requirements of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties with regard continuing medical education.
  • Participates in and/or actively supports approved research projects.
  • Deputizes for his superior as required and shares workload in his specialty during the absence of his colleagues.
  • Strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as standard of practice with regard to morbidity and cost effectiveness.
  • Participates in the forward planning and further development of the department / division.
  • Serves on hospital committees as requested.
  • Participates in the major disaster plan of the hospital as indicated.
  • Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities within the hospital and/or affiliated medical facilities.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Graduate from a recognized medical school.
  • Saudi Board or equivalent higher qualification in Urology Surgery.
  • Fellowship in Pediatric Urology.

Experience and Skills

  • Four (4) years specialized professional post qualification training / experience in Pediatric Urology Surgery in a recognized center, of which a minimum of two (2) years must be at a Senior Registrar level in Pediatric Urology (Category A + B Hospitals).
  • Experience in updated methods of management in Pediatric Urology including Minimal Invasive Surgery.

  • Demonstrated teaching skills in respect of junior medical staff, other staff, patients and their families.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with all staff, patients and families.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to cultural differences.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to work effectively within a service and organisation committed to achieving accreditation.
