This post exists to provide a Consultant service in the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to Consultants and staff in other dental specialties including the Division of Dental Primary Care.

The services encompasses advice about, and treatment of conditions requiring a surgical appraisal, such as impacted teeth, cysts, tumors, infections, maxillofacial injuries and maxillofacial deformitites.

There is a responsibility towards Saudi Dentists in training at clinical and academic levels. (If the Executive General Manager requested to do this job). Any other assignment given by the Supervisor or the Management.

Provides a clinical service in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery during normal working hours of the hospital. Provides an on-call (continuous) service for the treatment of acute dental emergencies and maxillofacial injuries.

To make and execute clinical decisions for referred patients. It would be unusual for a patient to be referred further to another specialty.

To perform clinical work appropriate to the specialty in a well equipped dental surgery with access to such facilities as required e.g. Radiography, Dental, Laboratory, Pathology, etc.

To operate on patients in the general operating suite at regular sessions and to take total care of there inpatients in his care in the beds allocated.

Clinical supervision of the following staff, associated with the care of their patients. Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.

Attends Continuing Education, Infection Control and Performance Improvement  programs to keep updated with the current practices.

Job Requirements: 
  • BDS from a recognized university.
  • FDSRCS from a Royal College of Surgeon or MSc (two year full time course) or PhD.
  • MBChB FRCS (Maxillofacial Surgery)
  • Ten years dental experience
  • Five years at least as a Senior Registrar in a specialty after obtaining the higher clinical fellowship (as defined above)
  • Should have experience in teaching junior staff
  • Published medical work, investigate or research
