Job Description:
Regular histopathology and cytology services and consultations to meet the needs of in, out and ex-hospital patients as determined by Medical staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise histopathology and cytology staff. Ensure proper filled requests, tissue processing and staining.
- Ensure proper storage of paraffin blocks, tissue slides and smears as long as needed for patient care purpose in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Examination of all surgically removed specimens, both grossly and microscopically (routine and special stained slides) and making the diagnosis with reasonable assurance.
- Provide diagnostic cytological services for body fluids, Gynecological and non-gynecological materials.
- Help in upgrading of Laboratory Surgical Pathology and Cytology Department. Introducing important means of Laboratory investigations.
- Share in Medical Education Programs and Tissue Committee. All tissue sections and cytology smears shall be ready for reference and use in consultation. Shall have the leadership responsibilities and problem solving.
- Attends Continuing Education, Infection Control and Performance Improvement programs to keep updated with the current practices.
Education and Qualifications:
- Must have MD degree in Pathology with specialization in Histopathology or equivalent qualification from a recognized university.
- Current medical license from country of origin to practice medicine.
- Valid SCFHS license and valid BCLS certification.
Experience and Skills
- Five (5) years experience as a Consultant Histopathologist in a large hospital.
- Customer service focused
- Capable to work and produce under pressure
- Intermediate computer skills (Window and Microsoft)
- Excellent interpersonal communication
- English language and awareness of Arabic language
- Familiar with Islamic and Arabic culture.

- Demonstrated teaching skills in respect of junior medical staff, other staff, patients and their families.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with all staff, patients and families.
- Awareness of and sensitivity to cultural differences.
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to work effectively within a service and organisation committed to achieving accreditation.
