When web users in China are looking to chat with AI simply for fun, they’re not likely to turn to assistants like Apple’s Siri or Xiaomi’s Xiao AI. Instead, China’s “fun” AI of choice in fact comes from Microsoft, and it will quickly be an independent business.

The procedure will be completed in the next few months, the company included. Chinese news website Caixin reported that the Covid-19 pandemic and stress in between the US and China accelerated the spin-off procedure.
