<p>Work as a specialist internist under the supervision of Consultant Internist.</p>
<p>Reporting to the consultant all the matters and progress of work in the department.</p>
<p>Looking after all patients admitted to medical ward. Go with the consultant in rounds twice daily for in-patients.</p>
<p>Answering consultation in emergency department from the ER Physician and admitting patient if he sees it’s necessary.</p>
<p>Alternate with the other Specialist Internist in covering first on-call duty for 24 hours.</p>
<p>Performing clinical procedures under the supervision of the consultant. He might be asked by the consultant to run the Outpatient clinic if needs arise.</p>
<p>He may suggest to his consultant any ideas that may raise the quality of work of the department.</p>
<p>He may evaluate and report to his consultant regarding the progress of work in the department.</p>
<p>Hospital doctors meeting are held fort-nightly for case presentation. He is encouraged to attend lectures, conferences and meeting whenever chances arise.</p>
<p>Attends Continuing Education, Infection Control and Performance Improvement programs to keep updated with the current practices.</p>

<li>PhD / Post Graduate or equivalent Degree in his/ her specialty recognized by Saudi Council for Health Specialties.</li>

<li>At least five (5) years of practice in his / her specialty after obtaining the higher degree in a Tertiary Care Hospital.</li>
<li>Sub-specialty degree or structured sub-specialty training preferred.</li>

<li>Knowledge of International / National Healthcare Standards.</li>
<li>Computer Literate/ better knowledge of MS Microsoft Word</li>

<li>Responsible for : Patients under care of specialty in the ward/ unit.</li>

<p><strong>Duties and responsibilities</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Responsible for the medical/surgical care of the admitted patients in his/ her department or under his/ her consultant.</li>
<li>Responsible for managing the assigned clinics (if asked by the management) as per the approved rota by the Head of the Department and Medical Director.</li>
<li>Responsible for initial assessment, requesting investigation, analyzing the rest results, diagnosis, treatment, and re-assessment as per the provided privileges and upon consulting his/ her consultant.</li>
<li>Prescribe or administer therapy, medication, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness or disease as per the granted privileges.</li>
<li>Responsible for monitoring the patients&#8217; condition, and progress in each shift and should inform his/ her consultant.</li>
<li>Pay daily independent rounds in each shift for all the admitted patients in the department and under his/ her consultant in any other department.</li>
<li>Responsible to accompany the consultants in their rounds and assist in all surgical procedures.</li>
<li>Write the patients complete medical record on time and also update the progress notes at the same time.</li>
<li>Authenticate and sign the medical record/ progress notes with date, time and employee ID number.</li>
<li>Perform diagnostic or therapeutic procedures for which he/ she is specifically privileged according to his/ her qualification, training &amp; experience.</li>
<li>Responsible for writing the Discharge Summaries and Medical Reports of his/ her department/unit.</li>
<li>Responsible to attend the Code Blue and should be involved in all other emergency codes of the hospital.</li>
<li>Responsible to implement all the approved policies and procedures, rules, regulations, protocols and guidelines/ clinical pathways that guide and support the provision of clinical services.</li>
<li>Direct and coordinate activities of nurses, therapists, and residents in patient care.</li>
<li>Responsible to be involved in the continuous quality improvement activities of his/ her department.</li>
<li>Serve on Departmental / Hospital Committees as requested.</li>
<li>Ensure that Islamic Values and Medical Ethics are respected and strictly observed.</li>
<li>Maintain a high standard of professional care in accordance with the International / National Healthcare Standards</li>

<p>Specialist Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is fully responsible to provide high standard of clinical practice and expertise in the assessment, investigation, diagnosis and treatment of patients in the area of ICU &amp; assist the consultant. He should involve in continuous quality improvement activities of the department and hospital to achieve the goals of the hospital.</p>

<p><strong>Duties and responsibilities</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Responsible for the medical/surgical care of the admitted patients in his/ her department or under his/ her consultant.</li>
<li>Responsible for managing the assigned clinics (if asked by the management) as per the approved rota by the Head of the Department and Medical Director.</li>
<li>Responsible for initial assessment, requesting investigation, analyzing the rest results, diagnosis, treatment, and re-assessment as per the provided privileges and upon consulting his/ her consultant.</li>
<li>Prescribe or administer therapy, medication, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness or disease as per the granted privileges.</li>
<li>Responsible for monitoring the patients&#8217; condition, and progress in each shift and should inform his/ her consultant.</li>
<li>Pay daily independent rounds in each shift for all the admitted patients in the department and under his/ her consultant in any other department.</li>
<li>Responsible to accompany the consultants in their rounds and assist in all surgical procedures.</li>
<li>Write the patients complete medical record on time and also update the progress notes at the same time.</li>
<li>Authenticate and sign the medical record/ progress notes with date, time and employee ID number.</li>
<li>Perform diagnostic or therapeutic procedures for which he/ she is specifically privileged according to his/ her qualification, training &amp; experience.</li>
<li>Responsible for writing the Discharge Summaries and Medical Reports of his/ her department/unit.</li>
<li>Responsible to attend the Code Blue and should be involved in all other emergency codes of the hospital.</li>
<li>Responsible to implement all the approved policies and procedures, rules, regulations, protocols and guidelines/ clinical pathways that guide and support the provision of clinical services.</li>
<li>Direct and coordinate activities of nurses, therapists, and residents in patient care.</li>
<li>Responsible to be involved in the continuous quality improvement activities of his/ her department.</li>
<li>Serve on Departmental / Hospital Committees as requested.</li>
<li>Ensure that Islamic Values and Medical Ethics are respected and strictly</li>
<li>Maintain a high standard of professional care in accordance with the International / National Healthcare Standards</li>
<li>Obtain informed consent for all patients in accordance with hospital policy for the undertaking of any diagnostic procedure, operation, test or procedure.</li>
<li>Provide reports and information as required by the Consultant/ Head of Department.</li>
<li>Play an active role in the education of the patient and his/ her family on a healthy lifestyle. Contributes to awareness and education of the community, in general, on issues related to health.</li>

<li>Relevant licence from the country of origin, acceptable to Saudi Commission for Health Specialty and Ministry of Health.</li>

<li>Sub-specialty degree or structured sub-specialty training preferred.</li>
<li>Clinical/ technical skills in his/ her specialty.</li>

<p><strong>Duties and responsibilities</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>The specialist clerks all cases admitted from O.P.D. clinics and E.R. (Cardio Thoracic Surgeon). He/She follows all tests results and inform the Consultant concerned about any abnormal result.</li>
<li>He/She joins the consultant in the ward rounds as per schedule. Includes pre-operative care of the Cardio Thoracic Surgery patients.</li>
<li>He/She responds to all calls by Nursing staff to see any patient under his/her specialty; he/she deals with the problems or call the consultant on-call.</li>
<li>He/She performs two ward rounds a day, one in the morning with the Consultant and one in the afternoon with the Consultant or on his/her own if the consultant is busy in his/her clinic or O.R.</li>
<li>He/She does dressing to all patients according to the schedule. Under certain circumstances, he/she may be asked to see patients in the O.P.D. clinic.</li>
<li>The Cardio Thoracic Surgeon specialist is on-call for patients who attend to the E.R., when he/she is called by the E.R. physician to do so. When they have a frank surgical problem or a post operative follow-up.</li>
<li>E.R. patients sometimes after been examined by the E.R. physicians are seen by the Cardio Thoracic Surgeon Specialist regarding their surgical problems to provide both Outpatient or Inpatient management under the supervision and guidance of the Consultant Cardio Thoracic Surgeon on-call.</li>
<li>Attends Continuing Education, Infection Control and Performance Improvement programs to keep updated with the current practices.</li>
<li>Provides full explanation regarding the plan of care and the available treatment options to the patient and care giver in a simple language.</li>
<li>Encourages the patient and care giver to participate in taking decisions affecting the course of treatment.</li>
<li>Provides educational materials related to the case for the patient and care giver.</li>
<li>Plans the educational session with the patient and family after checking their willingness to learn and their learning preferences.</li>

<li>Five (5) years experience as Specialist/Resident Cardiac Surgery in a reputed hospital. Preferably experience in Chest surgery.</li>

<li>Intermediate computer skills (Windows and Microsoft)</li>
<li>English language and awareness of Arabic language. Familiar with Islamic and Arabic culture.</li>

<p>Supervising all activities and problems related to cardiology and Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Department in the hospital. Liaise with the other departments and the administration to achieve the highest possible quality of medical service to the patient.<br />
The Consultant is the link between his department and the administration. He raises all matters, problems and difficulties in the department to the administration, and from the other side he assures the achievement of the administration policy in the department.<br />
Running the outpatient clinic in two sessions a day for six days/week. Alternation with the other Consultant Cardiologist in receiving new cases in the Outpatient clinic.<br />
Having rounds to in-patient departments twice daily for six days a week. Alternates with the other consultant cardiologist in covering second on-call duties for 24 hours.<br />
Performing clinical procedures as required e.g. Cardiac Catheterization. Participating in different committees as required e.g. Infection Control,  Continuing Education, Safety and Performance Improvement programs to keep updated with the current practices.<br />
Planning the policy of work in the department. Sharing with administration, through staff meetings in making plans for the work of the hospital in general.<br />
Evaluating the performance of work of the junior staff. Evaluating the progress of work in the hospital in general.<br />
The high quality of work in the hospital in a good challenge by itself to the practitioner, and is a strong drive for him to up-date his knowledge and refine his skill by attending meeting, conferences and lectures whenever chances arise.<br />
The consultants will participate and attend the hospital doctor’s meeting held fort-nightly for clinical cases presentation by the different departments.</p>
